Yoga is about connection and unity, so is community. Both provide a safe place to express yourself and belong. Both nourish the body and soul. Being part of something whether it’s being in a yoga class where everyone’s breath and movement is synchronized or at a baseball game where everyone cheers on the young players is an important part of our human experience. Belonging to something bigger than yourself fosters compassion and knowledge that we are not alone but are one.

Practice for Peace help prevent gun violence. Come Saturday, March 4 at 12pm to our donation based class. Same hot power vinyasa class with Caroline but all proceeds will go to March Fourth @march_fourth_ . This organization was started after the mass shooting that occurred in Highland Park during their 4th of July Parade. Join Sandi and Beth for 108 Sun Salutations Workshop and Yoga Nidra on SATURDAY, 1/28/23 - 1-2:30pm. The repetition of Sun A lends to a moving meditation, opens up your chest, shoulders and hamstrings; while at the same time, strengthening those areas and your core. After you complete your 108 Sun Salutations, you will be guided through a Yoga Nidra (a.k.a. Yogic Sleep). This will provide for a deep relaxation to seal in your practice. Yogic traditions consider 108 a sacred number. Sun Salutation is itself practiced as a sacred yogic practice and when repeated 108 times in a row enhances it’s spiritual; as well as physical, significance. The 108 is considered a digit that defines wholeness. Other supporting facts that make 108 a sacred number as per yogic traditions are as follows. According to Ayurveda, the human body has 108 sacred points; a.k.a Marmas. In numerology, 108 is called Harshad Number (joy-giver number). The sum of digits of 108 equals 9 and 108 is divisible by 9. Symbolically, it represents universal love, eternity, and awakening. The meaning of 108 extends much further than just that. Mala beads are also 108 in number which is counted during mediation by the practitioner which makes it spiritually important. Moreover, the practice of 108 Sun Salutations is an offering to the Earth, Sun and Moon. A salute to what is greater than us. It’s meditative and peaceful though the body is strong.
